Unleashx V0.25.1218a
« on: December 30, 2003, 10:08:00 PM »

Sorry if this has been mentioned already, but possible bug, if not, then I guess it's a feature request....  When specifying an intro video in the skin.xml file you have to list the actual path (f:\skins\skinname\intro.xmv/wmv)  whereas other video's and backgrounds, you need only to list the file name.  Seeing as how different people have UnleashX installed on different drives, some even only run as an app (God forbid) the skin path is therefore relative to the user making it impossible for a skinner to make a skin specific intro video that works for everyone's setup.  Could the intro video tag in the skin.xml file be made to attempt to run the video from the current skin folder first, then from the root where unleashX is installed?

Just an idea....  Great dash....

Hey guys, posted this in a separate topic already but just thought I'd add it here as well...just thought you might want to try this if IGR is causing your UX dash to crash/hang on bootup screen (altho you do actually have to get UX to boot once to get this to work) - this worked for me.
Just go into the system settings and change the music DIR to f:music. Presto, no more hangs! Everything works beautifully for me now, and UX was hanging once in every 3 boots, sometimes 4 or 5 times in a row for me before...I didn't do anything else to make this work, just FTP'd the latest version over (replaced the xbe in c:) and then changed the music dir through UX, no deleting soundtracks or savegame files.
Strange thing is that is still plays the tracks that have been ripped using the MS dash...I had a few random NIN and Strapping Young Lad MP3's in my f:music, but it ignores them and sticks to the MSdash WMA's. Furthermore, I put it to the test and ripped another audio CD AFTER making these changes and it still works good as gold...I'll keep testing it over the next few days and report any other probs I find, but I loaded a variety of emus/dashboards/games and used various combos of IGR (paused/unpaused/during movies) and app menu resets, and it didn't crash once. Maybe if the error is caused by UX looking for music to play when it starts up then this can be fixed by telling it to look in a different location...or something like that. Anyway, there ya go! Just change your default music DIR!

Cheers, hope it helps. UX RAWKS, keep up the good work!

Drew

PS: Just for reference...my bios = custom 4979.06 (colourmod red "x", red front LED, noani, boot sequence c:unleashx.xbe, c:evox.xbe, c:xboxdash.xbe...as u can see from that UX is launched as unleashx.xbe, NOT a renamed evoxdash.xbe, although I don't know if this makes any diff.)

I'm having a problem with the CLOCK/DATE

I turn the AUTOSET CLCOK option to: NO set the clock....
Then everytime I boot up, it sets the date to:

7/4/2003
And the time to:
5:39 AM

I'm running the newest UnleashX with the font exploit and the Evox M7 bios.

What the Problem is is that UnleashX dosen't update the time Via sntp. It won't matter if you have the 'AUTOSET CLOCK' set to 'NO', the reason that the time is set back to that date is that you are font hacked and the font hack automaticly sets the time so your xbox wont get clocked looped when you loose power to the xbox.

But the time does not update via sntp.

I know this is for bug reports, but I wanted to let you know we appreciate your hard work on UnleashX. It's been just over a week since the last release and you've added all these features, many requested right here in this forum. I dunno how you find the time to do it, but we should all give you a pat on the back.

Thanks again...

it is pretty sweet for that.

umm, one nice feature would be if the music would play at a reduced volume when a preview is being shown....then fade back up when you switch to something that does not have a preview associated with it......the sounds are conflicting.

That's a purty good idea...me likey.  smile.gif

Unleashx...thanks for all the work you've put into this dash.

beerchug.gif

Edit:  Oh yeah, to upgrade can I just swap my xbe or will I need to swap my config.xml too?  I would read the readme file but I'm at work so...no xbins for me right now.  mad.gif   I'm excited and wanna go home, crack a beer, and play damnit.

Edit AGAIN:  Here's a really stupid noob question.  Where do you get the numbers for your version #?  To say that I've got version 0.25.1218a is a mouthful.  I was just curious as to the meaning of this.  Actually, my wee little brain probably couldn't process your answer.   uhh.gif
