ok, here is my procedure, tell me what you think...

1.  using original dash and tried tHc_dash_v1B, patched w/ multipatch4920

2.  loaded xboxdash in hexbe, patched w/ .xbp file that comes w/ skin

3.  open default.xip in winixp, added files according to folders that come w/ skin

4.  open mainmenu5, music2, settings3, ect... and added files, including replacing files when prompted, that come w/ skin.

5.  extracted default.xip, hex edit default.xap (DEF theBackground Background) as instructed in kanaberra's tut.  Re-inserted edited default.xap in default.xip and saved.

6.  resigned xboxdash making sure files in 10027100 folder added up to files listed.

7.  FTP files, boot....ERROR 21


I just had a thought, does the dash have to already be configured for the applied skin to work?  meaning it doesnt boot into config mode when started?

ok well i kinda figured some parts out.  finally was able to get the dash to boot, normally, unskinned.  

tried to apply the tempest skin and the menu's look like they're a mile away.  there is animation in the orb and all the colors are there, but i cant read any of the menu tabs.  even if i could, nothing happens when i select them.

WTF is going on?  any help?  thanks
