i installed it again and it works fine now, i put in a skin from allxboxskins.com, but that didn't work, does anybody know how to make those skins compatible?

Have you re-named the folder all the .xip files come in? Are these .xip's still in that folder?
The only thing you can re-name is the .xbe  ...
Other than that, the dash is compatable with any form of xbox...so you've got a file missing or with the wrong name...
