How about this instead:

Since I can't get my original dash working again, is there an alternative way to do the things I used to be able to do with the dash?

Such as: setting the clock, managing game saves, and copying to/from memory cards;

without an Internet connection? Also, with XBMP installed, can I set EvoX to autoplay a DVD when I insert it?

Hi all!

No, you don't need a net connection to use the dash, but you do need a net connection if you need to set the time on the console and can't GET to the dash. :-) Plus, I don't need to be able to get to the original dash to delete game saves and stuff, because I can do it from my computer. What I was trying to figure out was, since I couldn't get my original dash back, how do I do all that stuff WITHOUT using my computer. Make more sense now?

Well, in any case, it doesn't matter. I've actually gotten my dash back (Thanks Capt!) and it's all good now. w00t!!
