I want to get video to create some skins.  But I don't know how or what to use.

DVD - I have a dvd drive in my computer is there some software I can get that will let me copy the video and sound?  Not the whole disc, just the sections I want.

Xbox - any way to get video off of the xbox, say from directly in the game?  I know to ftp the video files, but can I have something to record what is happening on the screen?

Scratch - I don't know about this, but can you make video from scratch?
