You can make a skin with as little as notepad. For graphic types you can use Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro as well as MS Paint for that matter. For video editing and effects you can use Abobe Premiere, After Effects, Maya 5, Pinnacle or even Windows Movie Maker. Not sure how some of you were ever able to mod an xbox when you can't type in the word "google" in your address bar. blink.gif

could someone post a tutorial on how to make a mxm skin using any of those programs listed above? a lot of us would like to make skins and if we knew how everyone would benefit from it.

hazed the only thing I use maya5 is for the 3d stuff I do.  You could make a skin with notepad alone.

And as  in one of the maya dloads nfo file "If you cant figure out how to patch it, you wont know how to use it."
If you really want to learn 3d, I would recommend starting off with 3dsmax, or gmax(the free version).  Gmax can be found at discreet's web site

Well, depending what you wanna do with 3D.  If you want to learn how to model, check out zmodeler.  If you wanna do fractal/noise type shit, 3DSM is the way to go (you'll probably find more tutorials for this).

But yea, you CAN make a skin with just notepad.  Or, take it a step farther and use photoshop or any other digital imaging suite.  And if you wanna go all out, you can use video editing software (ulead mediastudio, adobe premiere, etc.) and sound editing software.  Bla bla bla..

I would say the best bet is to start out with MXM's already implemented features and just use the skinner to make something like "Simplicity". Everybody loved the skin and the creator used nothing but notepad.
