wink.gif As I'll be evaluating this stuff for a coupld of my own apps, I'll try and make sure it works well with MXM's FTP Server.

The ability to automatically upload skin and config files to the Xbox is a nice plus.

It would be nice to see this in the the config/menu editors too.

Maybe I should go back to vb6,  I still dont have a full grasp on .net  and the difference is huge in some areas.

Well, there's nothing stopping the use of ActiveX controls in any version of VB or VC/C++, is there?

The downside of .NET is the baggage of the framework, which is fine for a large system, but average users freak out when they learn they must download an 11MB package to run some small 3 dialog app.  ohmy.gif

I figured there had to be some simple components to do the FTP Client-side stuff, and the bonus was finding the XML component, which should help geniusalz with his excellent skinner app.

I will add more site commands before the next release, as well, so you can select new preferences using the FTP command mechanism (or implement <Action> menu items).

Get remote directory listing as XML.

That is definitely sweet.

definitely true.  I think the vb6 runtimes only weigh in at 1.3 mb or something like that.

Probably would be better to go back. I miss a lot of stuff that was so much easier in 6 than .net

I am currently using Chilkat's XML component for skin loading functionality.

It works fine, but is case-sensitive (when searching for tags/attributes using the component's builtin search features)
Therefore searching has to be done "manually", by going though all nodes and comparing their tag names (using case-insensitivity)

Also, it refuses to recognize nodes/tags that have attribute values without quotes

e.g. <Pos x=5 y=5/> is inaccessible; to fix, change to <Pos x="5" y="5"/> in the XML file
