Problems With Newsfeed
« Reply #30 on: August 01, 2003, 10:54:00 AM »

YES!!! I got it working. My mxm.xml was wrong i had </Main> at the end of  all the settings and it needs to go after skins. here is a cut down version of my mxm.xml before
<Config>
<Main>
<SkinsPath>C:MXMSkins</SkinsPath>
<Newsfeed name="newsfeed">
<Global>True</Global>
<RotateChannels>True</RotateChannels>
<URL>http://www.xbox-scen...scene.xml</URL>
<UpdateIntervalMin>20</UpdateIntervalMin>
<RotateItemInterval>5</RotateItemInterval>
</Newsfeed>
</Main>
</Config>

Heres how it should be:
<Config>
<Main>
<SkinsPath>C:MXMSkins</SkinsPath>
</Main>   <--notice i moved this from the end to here
<SkinsPath>C:MXMSkins</SkinsPath>
<Newsfeed name="newsfeed">
<Global>True</Global>
<RotateChannels>True</RotateChannels>
<URL>http://www.xbox-scen...scene.xml</URL>
<UpdateIntervalMin>20</UpdateIntervalMin>
<RotateItemInterval>5</RotateItemInterval>
</Newsfeed>
</Config>

Hope this helps some of the people who r having the same problem.

QUOTE (Yuyu @ Jul 31 2003, 06:47 PM)
Very easy way to get your dns is to run normal ms dash and got to network setup from live tab. This will conect you to live so have mods off or use unmodded box. Then let the network configure itself. Once it says connected go back and see what it set your dns to, use this as your dns in the.xml file. Here is my stuff:

<Network>
<UseDHCP>false</UseDHCP>
<IP>192.168.1.105</IP>
<DNS1>24.217.0.3</DNS1>
<DNS2>24.217.0.4</DNS2>
<DefaultGateway>192.168.1.1</DefaultGateway>
<SubnetMask>255.255.255.0</SubnetMask>
</Network>

Got these numbers off of the screen I mentioned before and works perfect.

I was having problems like some of you others but this fixed it. Try it if youre still having problems

Thanks!

Anyone know if <Skin name="Its about Choice"> (the Matrix Skin )supports newsfeeds? If not, which ones do. I apologize in advance if this has been addressed. I have poured all over these boards and have not been able to find an answer. Thanks in advance!
