Change the name from "user" to "newsfeed" once.

There is no DNS set. It very important. smile.gif

Go into Start > Run and type in command
In the DOS window type in ipconfig /all and use the DNS you get from there.

they are settings for your xbox.

Another option is to use the same settings youhave in xbmp, or evox if both of those are set up correctly.

Well, I'm still no having any luck.  I've been tinkering with the xml for awhile now trying to follow everybody's tips and other .xml examples.  I'm behind a router.  Thanks for any tips. Here's my xml:

<Network>
<UseDHCP>True</UseDHCP>
<IP>192.168.1.101</IP>
<DefaultGateway>192.168.1.1</DefaultGateway>
<SubnetMask>255.255.255.0</SubnetMask>
<DNS1>192.168.1.101</DNS1>
<DNS2>192.168.1.1</DNS2>
</Network>

<FTPServer>
<ServerPort>21</ServerPort>
<User>
<Name>xbox</Name>
<Password>xbox</Password>
</User>
</FTPServer>

<Newsfeed name="newsfeed">
<Global>True</Global>
<RotateChannels>True</RotateChannels>

Set the DNS2 to 0.0.0.0 and DNS1 to your router, which is probably 192.168.0.1

No need for both DNS' to be defined.

Are you perhaps missing <config> tags? It's in you mxm.xml right?

Try to change your mxm.ml like the one up here ( I changed the line witn the red comment ) and of course you also need a skin with newsfeed capability.

I hope this help.

Hmm your DNS settings are fine now. Try changing <Newsfeed name="newsfeed"> to <Newsfeed name="user">, like the default name. I noticed you had "user" in your first config but later changed it to "newsfeed". Maybe if you change it back to the default setting since maybe that's what the skin is looking for ?

It might have no importance whatsoever but its worth a shot  tongue.gif

Good luck

dry.gif  Sorry, my knowledge of MXM is still limited heh

One more thing tho, is your internet going through a proxy server? Cuz that would screw the whole thing and I don't beleive newsfeed goes through a proxy server (correct me if I'm wrong BJ).

Hmm ok, what about removing the <IP> tags since you're using DHCP, and see if you get an IP address. Maybe the default gateway is wrong (eg. 192.168.0.1 instead of 1.1, sometimes it gets confusing).

But if you know your stuff and you're sure your router's address is the one you wrote in the xml, then i'm stumped.  dry.gif  Sorry, my knowledge of MXM is still limited heh

A proxy server might screw things up, particularly if it's an active server.

MXM currently provides a very simple web client. I will expand this down the road when the networking setup issues have been fully worked out (it's undocumented territory)

ph34r.gif

Can you go on your PC and type in winipcfg (for Win98/ME) or cmd (for 2000/XP) then ipconfig /all

There's a line that will say Default Gateway and that should be your router's address... Your router is indicating the gateway to be 192.168.1.1 because that's what you specified in the xml file. Maybe it's a different IP, it should say in the ipconfig in windows (chances are you have the right IP but still i'm trying everything here).

Your xbox doesn't need a default gateway to get an IP address. BTW can you post your mxm.xml file again so I can look at it for errors in network stuff?

heh good luck again!  beerchug.gif
