just going back to livewire V2

It doesn't like my preview vids, scrolling takes ages now.
must be that animated background or something cause i'm using the Halo skin now and it's very snappy.

Hmmm, KF is starting to have this problem now, He is having it with all the skins too. I have yet to see this problem at all. What is your setup? Like HD and all....

jlm5151 is the link you have at the start of the thread the final version or just a beta version.  Not that I have a problem with it now at all, just wasn't sure if this is the final release.

I havn't seen any slow down in videos yet at all, and alot of my videos are around 8meg encoded at 1500k.

umm... I can tell you MXM is on my E drive (yeah sounds weird but I wanted to seperate it from evox).
other info is in my sig

I should say I noticed it a bit when I was using the 'it's about choice' dash, not as bad.
when I scroll it's fine if the media is an image but when it's a vid it slows down which isn't just slower to navigate but it's also ugly.

well I dont know what the problem is or how it arose.

My box was fine, boots fine, plays games fine.

When working on the skins the other night..it was fine.

Yesterday though.. all i did was play NCAA2k4 from disc... then later that evening when I started working on the skins again thats when the problem came up.

I deleted the mxm folders in TDATA and UDATA.. but the problem still exists with ALL skins.  Its sad when even Advantage is slow and simplicity.

it will play fine for a couple seconds..then it slows down and stays that way.

Try removing the newsfeed stuff.

If I have time today, I'll work on cleaning up the networking stuff once and for all.

Ok, I will get back to you this afternoon once I remove the feed from my config.

It always worked fine before though..so I wouldnt have expected that to be it.  I will check.

The only thing I can imagine is that the game changed the IP settings for some bizarre reason, and MXM still doesn't know all the ins and outs of the undocumented network stuff, leading to some conflict in the Xbox's networking stuff.

Try booting up to safe mode and turn off the networking, as a quick check, and see if it clears up... if so, at least I know the general problem area to look at.

Delete the cache from NCAA also, it stores alot files then get left over in X:. It may not help, but it cant hurt.

Same thing here, with animated background + preview videos the scrolling in the menu is horrible. Gets real slow at some point, and makes it kinda ugly... Mine is on the C:, stock HD, rest of the info in sig.

Are you getting this problem with any othe skin I have made, or any other skins in general?

I noticed cache files on Z when i was working on the color pack and deleted them all...but that was Z..  I will check X also.

Wouldnt that prevent me from connecting via ftp?  I have no problems there.

Done that.  Here is a full list of everything I have tried.

1. Removed all cache files from Z.
2. Deleted the TDATA and UDATA Subdirectories for MXM. [004143] <--close..im not near my box right now
3. Rebooted in safe mode.
4. Set all music and sound options to NO.
5. Rebooted with a solid power off and on via index finger.
6. reset menu cache, changed skin to advantage.. reboot.
7. turned off and on internal skins... and tried them both after reboot.
8. Left my xbox off for a while and tried again.

I might be missing one or two other things I have tried and cant remember.

I didnt:
1. Disable newsfeeds in the MXM.XML  but i will today.
2. Disble (or remove) Network options in the MXM.XML or disable/change in any way. I will try this too...even though I can ftp flawlessly.
3. Format my hard drive and start over.... but i might.

I am just wondering how important the fact of playing NCAA 2k4 was.   It worked fine before I played and once I got done playing.. I started working on my PC but didnt browse my xbox afterwards until I started working on the skins again.

This is definietly an odd situation. I thought it was only Livewire V2 until I switched skins to SecurityX, then It's Abuot Choice, then Xtreme Voltage, then Simplicity, then Steel and all were doing the same...even with reboots after skin change.

Anyone else played NCAA Football 2k4 and having this same problem? (mine was on disc)

Well the newsfeeds in the skin work fine.. they had been working fine ever since the n4 update.  They still load now too.

Here's some more info though.  I had to run home to get a USB HDD and did a little more trouble shooting.

1. I check my x, y,z drive. nothing in there but screenshots of the Blue Livewire V2 skin. (looks nice btw)

2. I had 0.9n WIP (debug too i think) in a seperate app dir.  So I started boxplorer from the current release (hoping to clean any used memory by mxm) and started the 0.9n Version.  It works fine.  I only have the Xtreme Voltage skin in that directory though..so I couldnt check other skins without changing the config..which i didnt have time to do.

3. Just fo S&G,  I restarted boxplorer and copied the 0.9n WIP version to C overwriting the 0.9n4 version. Rebooted my system and it did the same thing as the 0.9n4,  extremely lagged menus.  And this was with the Xdlauncher skin by pentti which has no overlays or newsfeeds.

When I get home this afternoon I am going to remove everything MXM from C & E. and reinstall a fresh copy. see what happens

Just thought you might like to know a good working MXM 0.9n that worked as an app did the same thing as 0.9n4 when it was set as a dash.   I will save all xml files in case you need to look at them.  (both from E(pref and ?? -cant remember the name in TDATA) and C(mxm & cache))

oh... i will try removing the newsfeeds and network settings first before i clean it out.

Is there a way to use this skin without the tv scanline in the back ground? I have a very nice high quality video animation that looks better without the scan lines overlaying it. Im referring to Livewire 2.0

thx in adv..
