Anyway for now you have to put the skin folder in the same directory where you put MXM
and MXM will outodetect it

I recoment to Just Erase any other skin you dont want so you dont have to mess around with the xml file ,  If there is more than one skin MXM will randomly Choose one

i just kept it in the same folder. then ftped it into the mediaxmenu folder. i must be doing somthing wrong.

That file name sounds like you didn't extract the rar yet.  Extract the rar, then put that folder into your MXM directory.  The folder you want will be called devoid.  And upon clicking that folder, you should immediately see the several files that make up the skin, like MXM_skin.xml.

Exactly... there should be a MXM_Skin.xml file in that immediate subdirectory... don't move just the file, either, as all of the skin's resources are located relative to that file.
