Transparency?

Is there a way to set a transparencies with .png's?  So I can show items on lower layers.

Yes there is..  PNG is just the free GIF format (which my die out soon, with gif becoming freeware in a month).  You should be able to set transperancy when saving, if not you may have to 'export' it..  Either way shouldn't be too hard, what application are you using?

Transparency in PNGs works like GIFs... you use a paletted PNG and set an index as the 'transparent' color.

TGA files supposedly have transparency. You could also use the DDT format files (I think it was DDT... it's the BMP format 'native' to Xbox, just name it as a BMP when copying into the Xbox, and it should work)

I am working on a method to use a grayscale image as a mask.

TGA files have transperancy via an alpha channel..
