Hey BJ, I've got a quick question:

I'm using devoid, and had not put lots of games onto my xbox until recently. I've been using it mostly for homebrew apps.

Anyway, i recently put in like 20+ games in. I reset the menu cache, and sure enough MXM picked up all the games and I can select them.

Here is the problem:

The icons on a lot of the games, in the area to the immediate left of the titles are dominated by the NBA Live 2003 icon.

Even the games in which i have specifically selected a video to show, the icon to the left of the title in the games list is nba live 2k3.

Any suggestions?

THanks.

You got me on that one.... the "default" thumbnail is grabbed by pointing at the XBE, which gets the unique XBE ID number, which then refers it to the appropriate Title directory in E:\TDATA to get the TitleImage.xbx and extract (phew, hang on, let me catch my breath here) the image data to use.

That is really strange.

What does your cache_menu.xml file look like?

Wow, a lot of the thumbnails tags say:

<thumbnail>F:\GAMES\NBA LIVE 2003\SYSMGR\ICONS\TitleImage.xbx</thumbnail>

I wonder if i should just delete NBA live 2003 and if the problem would be fixed...

Mine does the same thing but with MS rallisport as the icon. Not a big deal to me, and I dont have icon images in the folders yet.

That's rather bizarre.

I've never seen anything like that. I can't even explain why that would have gotten into the menu cache.

Have you tried resetting the menu cache?

Ben Jeremy:

Well, i deleted NBA live 2003, and it fixed the problem. Everything is back to normal now, but man, that really was strange.

I've got no explanations as to why it happened.

I'll re send NBA Live 2003 to my hdd and see if it still happens.

Another update:

I put back NBA Live 2003, and the problem came back.

I guess the solution is not to have that particular game.

That is truly bizarre. I cannot fathom why that would be, I will check into it; clearly it's hosing up the creation of the cache_menu.xml entries.

In the meantime, you could try putting an "MXM_Entry.xml" file (check the doco for making one) in the NBA2k3 directory and use <Thumbnail>default.xbe</Thumbnail>

It might have something to do with my search algo, which may look for the thumbnail in the game's directory if it doesn't find it in the 'proper place' (wouldn't until you saved a game)

Or try running the game, "saving a game", then reset the menu cache.
