Since i haven't gotten around to making an MXM skin and will be forced to decipher the excellent skinning doc by BenJeremy..

I was wondering if the brilliant minds in this forum could provide me insight to what you need in a skin editor.

challenge = daunting task with MXM.  BJ made a killer app, and all the options are gonna kill my brain.

Is there a limit to how many videos can be playing at once?

Koldfuzion U ROCK 2 !!!!!!!!! Building an App is going to 2 put the icing on the cake  laugh.gif . I don't know the limit 2 vids . Good question though. It would be nice 2 have a built in font converter and a auto config on the delay tags for the date, time, isp ect..... That would be sweet . There's more but I'm 2 tired 2 think . But I'm sure you'll do the program justice and it will be just fine wink.gif

A nice WYSIWYG interface is needed.

Basically creating a skin without the need for understanding of XML or mxm's XML stucture.

YES but remember it's kewl 2 have an editer (more like a GOD-SEND) but knowing your XML brings a sence of reliability and understanding to your creation .
If there's a prob. /w your creation and you used an editer . How R U going to solve it ? You won't know where 2 go & how 2 fix the issue .  rolleyes.gif
You should know what you put in & how it works .
MXM has some things you can tweak for the 'FULL' effect . If you don't know what that are , you can't tweak em . wink.gif  beerchug.gif
That's why MXM is so Kewl ...........................It's the CHALLENGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! beerchug.gif

by all intent it will be.  I was playing around earlier with it, thinking of the requirments of the editor as I dragged two small wmv videos around the workspace and played some eminem (as background music) at the same time.

I think getting the total picture or what will be needed is essential, and probably the hardest part for me sence i havent done a skin yet.

I will probably break open the xml of current skins and take a good long look.

btw, to break you hearts.  Im not a C/C++ coder.  I do VB.net and I know that sucks, but if you dont like it, you dont have to use it. So the .net runtimes and wmplayer 9 will be required.  If you aren't familiar with XBMPed, take a look at it if you want to see my last project.

Heh heh, well, the XML allows a lot of flexibility and extensibility.

I think the greatest challenge is things like loading and using the XPR files as font resources. Placeholders can be used for the video, in an initial release, and it would be great for an editor to have a built-in handler for XML.

I've been giving thought to incorporating the ability to tweak skins in MXM, but that's a ways down the road.

It would be nice to at least have an application that's aware of the settings required for each layout element and present them in a standard fashion. Perhaps a simple layout tool would be useful as well, if WYSIWYG isn't entirely feasible on the PC.

That IS one the greatest challenges.  I could only simulate the font when I made the  laugh.gif skin editor for XBMP .06b.  Things were definitely a lot different back then.

It would be nice to be able to use them in the editor though.

I've looked at it a little and to be honest, im not a skinner eitther so thats what I need to get to grips with, but I have already programmed a skin editor for another prog and I've already got an xml parser.

Yeah the XPR lark would definately be a challenge smile.gif

btw koldfuzion i shouldnt worry about working in VB.NET, im going to work it in VB6 biggrin.gif w00000.
