Run ConfigMagic on the XBOX, write down the HDD Key..

then put the HDD in a PC, use LiveInfo, type in the HDD Key here and it will generate the HDD Password for you..

If i put it in the other xbox, it says your xbox needs service. It doesnt know the key to that hard drive.

Run ConfigMagic on Your FRIENDS XBOX, the one where the drive came from.. DONT have to put the drive in there, just run ConfigMAgic and  write down the HDD Key..

then put the Locked HDD in a PC, use LiveInfo, type in the HDD Key here that you got from your FRIENDS XBOX and it will generate the HDD Password for you that was used to lock it with..

uhh.gif   i guess you dont know how the password is being generated then ??

just putting it in another xbox wont help.. you HAVE to have the original HDD Key that resides in the XBOX's eeprom..  without it you cant generate the password..


Sonix:  Just go with what i said..  it'll work..  TRUST me !!  


I wrote ConfigMagic..  therefore i pretty much know how these things work..

how come there is no hardware way to do it? I'm sure if I zaped a chip or two might do the trick? Any idea mister?

He's the authority on this topic.

No "zapping" a chip is a pretty dumb idea.

This would not affect the HD lock at all, as it's not stored on any of the IC's.

Rather it's recorded on an area of the disk only available to the electronics when the security maintanence mode is enabled... which of course you need the password for in the first place.
