Anyone Need Scripts?
« on: November 17, 2003, 11:04:00 AM »

Well I checked out the request thread and there seems to be nothing that isn't already being developed so if anyone wants a script made just post your idea here and i'll see what i can do.  I'm just really bored and I need something to make use of my time.

I dont think I ever released the one i have, nor has another been released.  I will post it to axs once i convert that one to use the new virtual keyboard script.

im currently re-editing the newuser script DBZRacer and I made to use the virtual keyboard script so everything can be edited but i will take a break from this and get the ip changer out first.

When the newuser.xas was orginally written lots of stuff wasnt editable.

I will also be including a mxm.xml file so when a new users plans to set up mxm on thier box, it will auto-execute the script to create a new mxm.xml.

I have seen a mention of the ip changer in a document entitled. How to use action scripts downloaded from links on this forum. A long list of how action scripts were used included,

<title>IP Changer</title>
<descr>Edit your Current IP Address</descr>
<Action>Callfile c:mxmscriptsipchanger.xas</Action>
<media>C:mxmvideosnewsfeed.wmv</media>
<thumbnail>C:mxmvideoschecklist.png</thumbnail>
</item>

I am playing with skins at the moment to get a feel for one I want to use constantly and have noticed that a few skins have changed my ip address and some of them have not shown the address at all. Luckily EVOX is in the background so I can still FTP using that. Your help is appreciated. beerchug.gif  pop.gif

Technically, skins can't change IP's.  At all.

And they have the choice of showing IP's or not.

yea, thats part of my menu.xml

I posted the ipchanger script as well as the updated newuser script to AXS.

Both have been updated to use Kthulu's Virtual keyboard script (internally, no callfiles needed).

You can get them HERE

ok, its updated.  again, Kthulu's Virtual keyboard script is internal, so no need for callfiles or any editing.

this kicks ass. action script was a great way to build on mxm some these actions should be implemented in the xbe in future releases.

I know you was there in spirit smile.gif

actually it was very simple and didnt take much time at all.  I felt i had to get away from making a new user use a callfile function to load the keyboard though.. so i modified the keyboard script to end at a "return label" so i could be kept in the same script.

works more like a GOSUB now than a GOTO smile.gif

dont know why we never included a MXM.XML that had an _autoexec call in it to run the script automatically though.. last minute thoughts i guess.

Now you can just tell someone to put in the same dir as the mxm default.xbe and the scripts will take care of the rest.

Just asking do the scripts like IP changer actually wipe and make a new mxm.xml or does it just modify the new ones. In other words will all the FTP and Music sections of the xml still be the same or wiped out

the namechanger and ipchanger only update your existing mxm.xml.. and customizations you had will remain.

just to be safer, its always a good idea to back up your precious until you know its safe.

The newuser script will overwrite any existing mxm.xml, but it actually creates a backup first and asks you if you are sure you want to overwrite it.
