These are rough... I'll use the original logo as a template for the "real" 3-D version that I import to DirectX .X format.

Well, it's "straight" because of the way it was built....

As a 3-D object, I'll be able to spin it just about any way.

Rendered in 3DSMax....

Not quite perfect, though... the openings are fine, but the sphere used to cut them out of needs to be slightly bigger.

Well, that's a render... I haven't pulled it into a DirectX app yet.

cork, its quite possible that the original file with all the layers wasnt kept, which is probably the case.

BJ: Nice logo you got going, but to get the second reflection on the glass, you'll have to add another light, or an easy way would be to create a transparency map for the glass soo that its mostly transparent except where the 2 white points are.

Yes, there's actually a aphere defined with a clear, shiny surface, but I'm going to have to play with things a bit to get it looking right.

My goal is to recreate the image in 3-D, then work in some sort of animation leading up to that scene. I think I might be able to create an impressive intro with almost purely 3-D objects and some spiffy shaders.

It would be cool to have the finished rotating animation available as a skin object such as in old school EvolutionX with the rotating evox symbol...
