Mxm And Newsfeeds?

Your DNS has to be set properly. IF you have a DHCP server, then set your DNS to point to it (for example, I have a router with DHCP, and it's IP serves as the DNS)

<Netword>
<UseDHCP>TRUE</UseDHCP>
<DNS1>4.2.2.1</DNS1>
<DNS2>199.166.24.253</DNS2>
<DefaultGateway>192.168.2.1</DefaultGateway>
<SubnetMask>255.255.255.0</SubnetMask
</Network>

Just noticed a typo in you xml file...

should be Network, not Netword...

Also.. if you are using DHCP.. I believe that is will get all the values from the DHCP server and ignore your config...

That fixed one not quite issue!  Now MXM is properly grabbing the info from my <Network> tag, but I still get no newsfeed...  (I also noticed I forgot the > after /SubnetMask, but that's in there now)

That's a big Ten-Doh!

To be on the safe side, run your XML file through Internet Explorer to validate it. Also, try using the Xbox-Scene newsfeed to trouble shoot, as it's the "reference" source.

MXM 0.9n.6 only handles simple HTTP servers; this is being corrected soon - MXM 0.9o will handle regular HTTP connections and perhaps even authentication (meaning Proxy servers, too, perhaps), which means it will handle more RSS newsfeeds.

i think i have ran across this before.. but it might not be the case.

as long as the network is running ok, and you say it is. ..

change....

<Newsfeed name="NewsFeed">

to

<Newsfeed name="news1">   (or anything besides "newsfeed",  but obviously not "IP", "Gateway", etc")

for each additional newsfeed you add..increase the number as you go.

<Newsfeed name="news1">
<Newsfeed name="news2">
<Newsfeed name="news3">

If this is the only thing you change and it starts working, please report back and let us know.  Im pretty sure i initially did this myself when newsfeeds were first supported,,as well as one or two others here.

Well, while it won't help you at the moment, the next release should handle the xbins newsfeeds fine. I just downloaded it with MXM a few moments ago.
