Format Commands For New Hd
« on: December 06, 2003, 12:46:00 PM »

What would be the commands in ActionScript to format a brand new HD. If I pop in a new HD, I do not want the internal prep script to kick in, as I need to customize some things that happen after the prep and format. How would I prep and format the drive with actionscript in order....meaning one after another... because I want one button to be pressed and it will prep then format then some other things will happen afterwards..

If someone can just show me the command for one partition and how to not have the internal prep routine kick in, that would be all I need..

Thanks..

Take a look t "internal.xml" that's in the "developer.rar" file. This contains the "_AutoExec" script that you can override by including your own _AutoExec in the MXM.xml file. You can also call the internal "prep" scripts or modify them.

Ok I understand everything you just said thank you...
I had been looking through the internal.xml a few days now deciphering what  I could borrow from it for my scripts, now I pretty much see what I should use for what I want to do...

Only problem is I do not want any file to _autoexec because, of the different options that will be available in the menu...

I need the end user to be able to decide what best suits what they are doing without a script _autoexec.

Unless I could overide the internal one with a "dummy script" of sorts that executes without being seen, and does nothing special..

In that case what could  I make it do and not bring up an error, but not be seen either..

Thanks...

Yes, you could just put in MXM.xml:

<ActionScript Name="_AutoExec">
REM Empty Script
</ActionScript>

</Scripts>
