:::sigh:::

Well, MXM uses the same technique Evo-X undoubtably does, it mounts the desired partition as a "utility drive" and then uses M$' own code to perform the format.

If you were "using" E: when it formatted it, who knows what might happen... it was not intended to be used that way.

MXM actually has a script built into it to handle formatting, and copying files to each drive partition, when it detects a new disc drive. This is really the only time I'd suggest formatting an E:

As for fixing it, you'd have to use a boot disc, for one thing. You'll also have to replace TDATA and UDATA with, at the least, the M$ dash directories. A format should work, as long as you boot from DVD. If not, you'll have to use an app like WinHEX to zero out the initial few sectors of the E: partition (check the xbox-linux site for details on where to find the sector).

You cannot perform a Format on a drive while you are using it for something, Absentminded. That would be like right clicking the drive windows resides on in your pC(If you use windows) and then selecting to format it, windows would no longer work and you would not have access to the drive. Same goes for the Xbox, certain files were running or needed to be run off of E: at the time of format, so you no longer have access to E: or are able to use it correctly without a clean reinstall. The fault lies here in not MXM'x Format command, but not properly reading and studying what you were going to do with an ActionScript before using. I am not trying to come across as an ass, I am just saying you should not have so quickly pointed the finger at MXM but, rather have stated step-by-step what you did to make the problem occur. (Which you did but, the added line of MXM format screwed my HD) I am sorry to hear what happened.

To fix the problem I would suggest trying to run a game and saving it, then ejecting the disc and see if the save data is there through the M$ Dash. If it is, then you may have hope, if not then there is less hope. Anyways, install MXM into the C: drive for now and try using the allow format in the system menu and then Format the partition using FlashFXP using the site command , Site Format F:, in the raw command window. This should work I hope, if not come to the #MXM channel on Efnet and I will try to help you more from there, if you have not already fixed the problem yourself.

The thing is that you CAN format a drive in use, and I have in many occasions with evox.  Not to mention that evox was always residing on E: at the time and I had absolutely no problems.  But I will try the FTP raw commands and see if I can get those to work.  (But I don't wanna come off like an ass cause I love MXM and i'm very thankful for your help but I just wanted to inform people that it CAN be done)

Evox probably loads itself to memory, then you can do whatever you want with the drive.

However, since MXM has many more features (preview vids, skin videos, etc), MXM is more likely to be using the drive while the format happens.

Ok, got it working again - Just had to load up Halo, Save and reload the pbl.  After that got evox on formatted E: fine and re-installed MXM.  Guess I'll just have to leave evox on incase I need to format E: again (cause i'm crazy like that)  Thanks for all the help guys!  And thanks again BJ for your great dash!
