Some apps can do that for you.
I think Qwix does.

Use XBE renamer to change the name inside of the XBE.

That same thing happened to me.  I backed up Nascar Thunder 2004, and it put the "?" at the end of it.  I just went to my cache_menu.xml and deleted it, easy as that.

The game name comes from the xbe 'id' I think, I am learning too, by adjusting the cache menu you will be fine until you reset the cache menu to auto add your next games or app then the '?' will be right back where you don't want it. I am under the impression that creating your own MXM.xml file is the only way forward. Note also that preview videos and added thumbnails also disappear when resetting the cache menu.

i have edited my cache_menu.xml and like the configuration,.... my question is this.... when i back up my next game i have to reset the cachemenu right? therefore, would i lose all the edits i have made? that is the impression that i am under, so i read yu yu's mxm tutorial website and it said to make a menu.xml and copy everything from the cache_menu.xml to the new menu.xml... so i did this but everytime i restart mxm a new cache_menu.xml comes up and if i try to just edit the menu.xml it doesnt work... i have to edit the cache_menu.xml....(and even this has something weird going on, i.e. the order of my items is showing up incorrectly, tho im not worried about that yet.... ill get to that after i figure out this whole menu.xml thing) am i doing something wrong here? any help is appreciated, thanks

I've added the overall issue to my "to do" list to deal with, and will bump it up in priority.
