Progressive Scan Patching
« on: September 30, 2003, 01:07:00 PM »

Sounds like a cool idea... But what I do now with xbe's I patched with the progressive scan patch is i simply rename them by appending 480p at the end and place the new 480p copy in the same directory and make a manual entry for the new 480p version in the menu... so xboxdash.xbe would now have a second copy called xboxdash480p.xbe

Now that you got me thinking about it... How about using action scripts to do something similar as in let the action script let you decide which xbe to launch: normal xbe vs 480p patched xbe... That is something that can easily be done now with action scripts

still it would be nice to do the patching on the xbox, the pc app for it is rather clumsy

he always seems to have lots of things in store, the best dev ever alongside xport i think.

anyway i was just thinking, on a broader note, it would be nice to have a "videomode" select menu pop up when u select an xbe or the dvd drive to launch, so u could apply pal50/60, ntsc60, widescreen/4:3/letterbox and hdtv modes manualy, some games are quite picky about them and it can be a pain in the arse to be manualy changing them all the time.

With Context menu ActionScripts and the XML functions I'll be adding, games should be easily configured for that.

How very sweet!!!
You wouldn't believe how many hours I've wasted trying to work my way through the MS dashboard to turn progressive on/off (without ever memorizing the keystrokes, or thinking to create a patched progressive version..)

Well, I'm not promising progressive mode... though perhaps Cherry might be willing to work some of his magic to force progressive mode in the BIOS.

What I am saying is that with the new commands, scripters will be able to use ActionScript with context menus to manipulate the configuration files.
