And as for fitting, did you have to remove the mobo.

thanks for the helpful info and pictures.

I will attempt to do this sometime next week, wish me luck! Just wondering what exact tools did you use to cut it with? And also did you cut all of the plastic casing away, or did you leave some so that it would support the fans from falling [so left some plastic casing at the very bottom]? Like a slot in thing. Thanks.

I am also thinking of drilling about 4 small/medium holes at the back of the HD tray. So that heat can escape from there, as the fan at the back is sucking air out, I have a IBM drive so it gives out quite a bit of heat.

I might also change the stock fans to help reduce the noise level - but probably after I sort out my PC first - too damn noisy.

QUOTE (Gackt @ Dec 12 2002, 01:11 AM)
Maybe heat is the killer of computers, but NOT killer of consoles, game consoles are designed to be completely stable, with NO MODIFICATION.

Don't forget that the Xbox is basically a PC within itself, so heat is a huge factor. IF you can keep any electronic COOL, DO IT. It will make your stuff last longer and will let you play on it much longer too.

I am willing to answer any question if you have them on how to make this MOD. I know how it feels to have something FAIL on you due to something that could have been avoided in the first place, so contact me if you need help.  smile.gif  Besides, this mod cost only about $15.00 to do! This is one of my BEST mod and yet the CHEAPEST!  biggrin.gif

one more question please, was wondering about any rattling noises coming from the fan casing? I mean since its got moving parts the vibrations against the metal of the xbox could make irritating noises.
I am thinking of alternative ways of hooking the fans to the side of the xbox, using ordinary things. Going to look into it, so far thought of those double sided sticky pads [which if the casing shakes it won't rattle cos of the foam in the pads], normal selotape, screws.

How did you guys cut the plastic case? I mean to cut the thick parts without cracking the plastic takes skill. Any suggestions?
