please forgive me if I sound like a total newb, but what is the video editing software that comes with XP? I have wanted to teach myself how to use some kind of video editing software, so that I can make my own MXM skins (since there is such a small amount of them available)

So what program is it that you are talking about?

biggrin.gif   But its for basic video editing stuff.  Nothing fancy there

Edit: And you don't HAVE to include videos in your skins.  I normally don't.

well i have been trying to figure out how to use the MXM skinner program, but I cant figure it out for the life of me. Are there any tuts or guides about it?

Also...I looked around, and I dont see windows movie maker. Is that a sub program...off of another program (just like adobe image ready is a sub program of adobe photoshop)

thanks ahead of time...

Last things first: Windows "Movie Maker" is included with Windows XP, and even has an update available. It's a freebie accessory app.

As for the skinner, the best place to start is with the MXM Skinning Overview DOC file (included in the binaries) and looking at an MXM_Skin.xml file to get a "feel" for it. IT will also give you an appreciation for the skinning app wink.gif

Best paid prog is After Effects, but try VirtualDub... still the best freeware program I've ever seen... also a very cheap and useable demo is Multiquence...I think thats at goldwave.com or something.
