Newsfeeds are just XML files grabbed from a web server.

If you have a web server running, it should be no problem at all.

my website runs on a php news management system called PHPNuke, you may have heard of it, check it out if you haven't.  it automatically creates a nice xml file for the news items on your website, which sounds perfect, albeit a bit of overkill, for what you're wanting to do.

Never thought about having my own personal messages... My x-box is not connected to the web at all... I think he wants to do what I would like to do... have the .xml stored somewhere on his x-box an just run it over an over... is this possible. I'm not running a web server any where.

I think he would just need to create an xml file and save it locally on his HD, then instead of pointing to a webserver, just point it to the files path.  ie: e:\xml\newsfeed.xml

However, that is only a guess.

Well, that won't work... it needs to be served from the "web" - so he needs a web server on his PC.

Is that because it has to be processed by IIS (if you run a w2k server)?  It would be cool to run you own news feed.

Maybe I will finish up my wk2 server and add IIS on it and get a website going on it.  It might take sometime to do because I have never setup a web server before.  Anyone can give me pointers?  Oswald, koldfuzion?

Maybe I will open it to people that use mxm to add their own news feed.  It is on my home connection, so that is why I will only host newsfeeds if I can get this done.  Anything else other then xml files would be deleted.
