MXM Autoinstaller
« on: July 19, 2003, 05:28:00 AM »

Hi everyone.  I notice there seem to be an obscene number of posts asking for help setting up mxm.  Mxm also does not seem as if many "Newbies" will be attracted by it.

I think an autoinstaller, such as slayers, would really help the mxm scene grow.

Anyone agree, or is interested in working on this?

Once again, just an idea to keep the mxm community growing.

EDIT: mods, please change topic to mxm autoinstaller, I was in a rush when typing this.

Well i'm in last stage of doing one...it will install MXM with every app, homebrew game, dashboard and a video for each of them...X-selector will be the dash with MXM the main thing in that.
Only bad thing is that it still uses evo-x to install  sad.gif
But its a nice simple 2step task.....going to have to release two versions of it tho...one for people that boot xboxdash.xbe (me) and one that boots evoxboxdash.xbe.

Tell you one thing; its hard than you'd think...I'm not doing any of the Autolisting for all the stuff that it installs...I'm doing the Menu.xml thing for each app and game etc...And i have to do that for every single Dashboard  dry.gif Even contemplating including a bios in there that makes the xbox boot XSelector.xbe first to make it easier....
one of the things i like about this installer is that it installs every single compatible version of doom...5 versions if i remember rightly.
Would be nice if someone could make a skin for the installer?
Just a nice simple one...Using evo-x skinner as it uses evo-x to install  dry.gif But say have Mxm Pic, Avalaunch Pic, Nexgen pic and Evo-X pic on it to show what you're getting...Anyone do this for me?

That's a lot of work you've beeen doing.

As for the skin, I'll see if my mediocre photoshop sills can amount to something, but don't count on anything spectacular smile.gif.  Even I can manage to make a simple wallpaper skin I would think. biggrin.gif

That would be very cool and you would of course get thanks in the readme...if you have msn add me [email protected]

Why do a menu.xml for every single item? When you install new games or apps then they wouldn't show ut unless it's AutoDir... And the last thing I'd want to do when I install a new game or remove a game is edit the menu.xml file

Because if you do a menu.xml it sets it out nicer and is just more tidy. Plus all the apps out are on there, all homebrew are on there.
So added apps aren't really going to be needed because not many new ones come out, mainly updated ones so simply replace the old version.
There will be a Auto dir for Self installed stuff such as games....so it isn't hard to add one for apps if you really think its needed but i don't seriously think n00bs will be adding these to there xbox.

You have to add them one by one manually if you dont want to mess up your already other edited menu.xml stuff :[ It sucks.
