:::sigh:::

It's not really too hard.

Each skin gets its OWN subdirectory. This directory will contain AT LEAST the MXM_Skin.xml file, along with files and other subdirectories (this is up to the skin designer)

Each of the skin directories have to go into ANOTHER directory. If you specify a "SkinsPath" directory (F:\skins, for example) in your <Main> node of your MXM.xml file, then you put those directories in THAT directory.

If you do not specify a directory, it defaults to the directory containing the MXM application.

It has nothing to do with the menu cache (which is concerned with the menu items)

QUOTE (dragonx @ Jul 17 2003, 05:55 AM)
when i try to load a skin with the new one

i always see the two skins that the new version originally came with

that is why im getting a little frustrated...

the version im using now all i do is put the skin folder on the c: drive and it sees it..

this version is a little more complex (it seems to me)

but what i will do tonight 12-49-am easter time ...b4 i lay down tonight... i will fiddle and see if i make out...

thank you guys for replying....

The fix is simple.

Create a folder in the root of C: called mxmskins

Move all the skins you want to make available to mxm into that folder.

in the MAIN node of your mxm.xml file..  put the following line in the MAIN section

<skinspath>c:\mxmskins</skinspath>

example....

<Config>
<Main>
   <DiscTitle>MXM Rocks</DiscTitle>
   <DiscSubTitle />
   <AllowVideoSound>True</AllowVideoSound>
   <RemoveDuplicates>false</RemoveDuplicates>
   <RemoveInvalid>true</RemoveInvalid>
   <MenuPath>C:\</MenuPath>
   <skinspath>c:\mxmskins</skinspath>
   </Main>[/B]
