On July 14 2003, CreateSpace Hosting Services was suddenly and deliberately attacked by a malicious hacking group.
It is apparent, that this attack was planned and carried out with much precision, as it has taken the primary createspace server known as Xeon to a dead halt.
What began as a simple defacement of all index pages to our clients has now escalated into a complete kernel panic, causing a severe loss of data on the primary hard drive. At this time, we are unable to determine whether or not information stored on the backup drive has been compromised.
We are currently working closely with Peer1 Networks to restore the server in a timely, secure fashion. This involves a complete deletion and restoration of the primary hard drive. The primary drive was unfixable, but a replacement has already been installed.
A full reinstall of the Operating System, Control Panels and additional security software has successfully taken place.
Update:
The backup hard drive has also been damaged in the incident, and at present we cannot pull off any of out backed up files. We are currently reinstating all accounts on the server for resumed website status. This will enable all the same features before the attack, however cpanel settings, i.e. email will need to be re-entered. FTP upload is as normal, however now please use our new IP: 66.199.177.200
The backup hard drive will be sent to a specialist to retrieve the files - these will then be available within the coming days for those required files.
