Maybe just a note for those having skin problems. My regular mxmdash.xbe boots from the C:\ . I also keep a mxm default.xbe on the F:\ partition to check on skins I'm making or to mess with a new release before I put it as my default dash on C:\ . I upgraded the mxm to 9n on my F:\ and made the <SkinsPath>C:\skins</SkinsPath>. MXM would not recognize the skins on C:\ . I then changed the mxmdash on the C:\ to 9n and it picked up the skins no problem. I'm thinking there might be a problem with the skin selection going across to a different partition.

great job BenJeremy! I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but in my emus and homebrew folders, I get a lot of 'boxplorer's showing up. This is when using a menu.xml to auto generate a menu_cache.xml. It is as if it is using boxplorer in the name/description when it doesn't recognize the file. However, my .9m install does not display this problem.

I'm in a hurry right now, but let me know if you need more info or if I'm just doing something wrong (it wouldn't be the first time smile.gif ) Thanks again!

Hmmmm... might be keying off the XBE ID.

Short term solution is to put MXM_Entry.xml files in those directories to specify the titles.

When those items are selected, hit "Y" and select "Game Info" and look at the XBE ID for the game.

I will have to develop a better way of doing "autonaming"

It displays newsfeeds from Xbox-scene.com, so if you are connected to the net while on your dashboard, any new news from xbox-scene will be displayed on your dashboard.

Is anybody else having trouble loading the DEVOID Skin??

I have a couple of skins in my skins directory and Devoid is the only one that Freezes the Xbox.

My Skins come up in the menu and I am able to change between skins but when I load DEVOID It hangs when in the Initializing SKin part

any Ideas??

Here is what my MXM.xml looks like  it might help those of you who have trouble getting their skin directory to show up also smile.gif

Try different safe mode options and see what happens, particularly when you disable the music.

Short of MXM functioning as a TSR, I'd imagine that it would be impossible for a menu system to allow for game screenshots....
If it did stay resident, it would reduce memory, and cause instability....
correct me if I'm wrong ;-)

Well I'm not exactly sure... we already see that real-time patching can be done in order to allow features like IGR, I certainly dont have the know-how, but somebody might be skilled enough to convince the game that when a certain key combo is pressed, it is inherently supposed to divert a single frame of it's output to the hard drive.  When the xdk allows such function, does it stay in memory? or does it simply have kernel commands to accept network commands in game?  I highly doubt that it is completely impossible, but perhaps I'm bringing this up in the wrong place.

Hey BenJeremy you where right ,  I disabled music and it started right up,
But what do I do now to be able to use this skin,  should I just erase the music in the Music folder of the skin or do you have something else in mind?
Because even if it worked if I reset it will hang again unless i reset into safe mode and disable music every time

::EDIT::  I just deleted the Music file and it works good now, So no bigie smile.gif
I wonder why it did that anyway??   Just giving you some feedback

-delete the music from the skins music folder
-look around your xbox soundtracks, looks for songs and soundtracks with strange names and delete them
-pray to whatever god(s) are applicable, reset your menu cache and reboot

that should do it, but if it doesn't, keep trying.

Yeah, I'll have to take a look at the music. If Devoid's music is causing lockups, I should be able to track down the exact nature of the problem and fix it.

Hi Again
Just worked out what I was doing wrong with regards to skin selection

I missed a forward slash from shins path

I had
<SkinsPath>F:skins<SkinsPath>

Should have been
<SkinsPath>F:skins</SkinsPath>

 DOH!!
