@snagga---you can get qwix of www.teamavalaunch.com..its a legal download....

Also i have had a problem with tony hawk underground as well.  It would freeze everytime i started playing, though the menus would load fine.  Im not sure if its a iso problem or a bios problem though.  ------->recently THUG fixed itself  laugh.gif

I love the way qwix connects to my xbox, especially how fast it transfers, but the iso it makes is not that great.  extract-iso does a much better job.  So in the next release, why don't you just change the program to using extract-iso or give users the option to choose their own iso program (command line program).  On my samsung your iso's load fine, but my friends who have phillips (junk!) are complaining about load times. Great software though & great work (especially since you do this crud for free)!

Anyone else want to comment?

I think he's suggesting maintaining the FTP client code, but altering the way it actually makes the ISO.

the qwix program is a great program, but if he wants to make it better use a better iso program.

xeero, that is what i was suggesting. keep the ftp client, just change the iso builder.

the joker... i'll wait and see on the progress in load times when you guys update, i need to start using dvd-rw to test these iso programs, too many wasted dvd-r's on slow loading games!  Great program though, sends my files & builds iso in two clicks & 2 minutes.

You are aware that qwix IS an ISO builder. It doesn't "use" an ISO builder. He made it ALL from scratch by himself. And the ISO builder in Qwix is also one of the LEAST buggy implementations done.

not to mention that his format greatly improves loading times on dvd's and sets the data in a better position for faster transfers...

anyways quix make isos that are if not 100% 'compilant' to xdvd, the very closest there is (I think jj mentioed a couple of things he need to iron out, dunno if that's done as it was a while  ago).

I converted an ISO of Tony Hawk's Underground over to an "optimized" version using Quix and it pretty much ruined the game. The audio gets all scrambled and messed up and the xbox DVD drive is often spins the disc really hard. An unoptimized version, however, works fine without those problems (just slow load times).

Besides the optimization problem, Quix is an amazing program.

SeasonOfFire, you're the only one I've heard this problem from.  Have you seen this thread, and especially the post from HSDEMONZ near the end of the thread?

I'd be interested in any additional information you can provide on this.

I'm unsure about this.

extract-xiso has made nothing but corrupt ISOs in my experience, but Qwix's have all been great.  I don't notice any difference in load times from DVD, but they extract more quickly.

Regarding the problem with Philips and Samsung, how would you think that's a problem with the ISO?  Do you think the drives actually parse the file systems themselves?  I'll tell you right now they don't.

Also, the images made by Qwix are compliant with GDFS.  MS's gdf2file.exe extracts them perfectly.  xdfsextract does not, however, because that was a homebrew app written before the tree-style (optimized) ISOs came along.

All Qwix generated backup ISO's that I've made have performed extremely well, without stutter or pause. Perhaps you may want to take a look at the media you're using when creating these backups.
