Holy crap i thought i was the only one with this problem.

What you need to do is get the old xbox's password from your back up that you made via evox back up or slayer back up. Then unlock with unlockX or HDUNLOCK/HDDISABL. If you dont have access to the old xbox or the HD key already you are screwed. What did you lick it with. i know that the master password if locked with config magic is TEAMASSEMBLY. Let me know !

If the 120GB was locked with ConfigMagic, then use ATAPWD to unlock it with MASTER password of TEAMASSEMBLY

Don't forget to disable the drive (also through ATAPWD) after you unlock it. I was worried I was going to lose my brand new drive when I fried my motherboard, but this ended up working.

You probably need to disable the password after unlocking the drive.

Thats just it. It wont Unlock it now. The TEAMASSEMBLY password doesnt seem to be cutting any longer.

HDUNLOCK.EXE Says done after I select the drive & type the password(TEAMASSEMBLY) (some success?)

HDDISABLE.EXE Doesnt seem to work because after I select the drive and type the password, it says Device not Ready. Guess its not accepting the password. I run this after I run HDUNLOCK.EXE, tried running it 1st also.

UNLOCKX.EXE After I select the drive and type the password it says, This drive cannot be unlocked. I have tried running it twice like it says in the readme.txt.

ATAPWD.EXE Worked or so it seemed at one time but now it is no longer accepting the TEAMASSEMBLY password.

LIVEINFO.EXE Shows the password for the harddrive (really big password) and shows it as being locked. This is a windows app. The Password is so big that it will not fit inside atapwd.exe's Password box.

These are some of the things I have tried. If all else fells I just want to get the stuff off of the harddrive and move it to another. I do have some Linux experience if needed.

just quit dickin' with all those programs. Unsolder the eeprom from the fried mobo. Then unsolder the good eeprom. Solder the fried mobo's eeprom on the good mobo. Now your drive will unlock.

If you do not have your user password, then NONE of the programs are useful except for atapwd. You have to unlock the drive with the master password, then disable the password, all through atapwd. You won't be able to unlock it through the xbox, even with a bootdisc (I tried, and the xbox will not boot off a cd if it finds a drive married to another xbox)
