I just wanted to vouch for this method of optimization. I've found it extremely easy to create ISO's this way. Most games already have their layout files uploaded on the site so I don't have to bother with creating one and if I do have to actually create one, I don't mind uploading it to the site to contribute since these free tools have enabled me to quickly create truly optimized backups. Thanks for the tools!

If it wasn't for this game, I would have never found out about these tools. This is now my default iso creation tool for backing up select games  smile.gif

I created a backup of chronicles of riddick with both quix and moogui, oddly enough the moogui optimized disc loads much quicker but gives me a dirty disc error during the opening movie. The quix version loads slower and is a little jerky but allows me to watch through all of the cinematics.

Well, I've been burning games with both quix and moogui and it seems to be hit and miss. I'm wondering if to save on coasters maybe we can start a list of the games that seem to work well with moogui and those that absolutely won't. Which games have you guys been successful with up till now?

1. put original in the xbox
2. use the layout dumper to dump the .lyt to xbox
3. ftp over the .lyt file to pc
4. ftp over the game files to a dir on pc
5. start mooGUI select the game folder path
6. set the layout file path in mooGUI
7. set the output directory of the ISO
8. create the ISO usinging mooGUI
9. Burn ISO with ur software( i use NERO at the slowest speed, never had a problem)

So how do you use the layout dumper?

get the .xbe for the layout dumper in the usual places and put it on your xbox's hard drive.  run the application from your favorite dash and follow the onscreen directions.

I Think the best way is to copy the game to your hdd, then you don't use the dvd drive at all and hence it will last longer.

I may be crazy but when I optimise {most of the time} I tend to produce louder dvd's that seem to make my drive work harder huh?

For me MooGui doesn't seem to work for Psychonauts, Chronnicles of Riddick, and a few others, but mostly it works great.
