Since Avalaunch is written using the MS XDK, its binaries include code copyrighted by MS. All the more reason for an open XDK.

what he meant would be this:

legal Avalaunch == The source for ava contained in their cvs tree.
illegal Avalaunch == source compiled using a unlicensed version (ie: 'pirate' arrrr) of MS' XDK.

Untill (if ever) OpenXDK is finished, there is no way to run legal binarys on the xbox, except from buying the XDK (Alas, I doubt that would be legal either, as MS requires every developer to send the xbe's to them for signing..)

edit: err.. you *could* always do what was done in reboot.xbe and halt.xbe, code in asm. this would of cource be 100% legal. and 300% unproductive.

team ava got a legal XDK - we just ... don't have rights to release the xbe - but those #"%"#¤ guys keeps....leaking it... yea, think it was lantus that leaked - or iriez....hmm...

indeed this is how PBL works, the problem is since it writes to the frame buffer, the video on 1.4/1.5 boxes is scrambled
