VooD, word needs to get out to more people stressing how important it is to pad games and apply the original layout structure to them wink.gif

No wonder most people play games from the XBOX HD coz their DVD discs are soooo unoptimised tongue.gif

Still, even padding and applying sorttxt to Dreamcast games wasn't that popular amongst "casual gamers" ph34r.gif

BTW the link to the Oddworld Munch's Oddysey layout is broken tongue.gif

It seems the script I use for file management doesnt like that. tongue.gif

I removed the symbol and now works.

Yeah, I did actually mention this problem with the link on the last post of page 3 in this thread but looks like you missed it wink.gif

Full Spectrum Warrior. Wow. A 1:1 backup can be achieved due to it's being only one layer. With the XDVDFS_Tools I have made my first true 1:1 backup.

Glad to see you still here ncaseebe tongue.gif

Negative filesize bug fixed. Will release on next go around.

Since bugs are scarce, start thinking about the UI.
-Any suggestions to improve it
-Any areas that are confusing or misleading
-Any additional checks you'd like to see
-Of course any you see thats not consistent with the rest of the program

As far as integrating xdvdfs_* into MooGUI was a thought of mine when I first started but brushed it off, I'll put it back on the table.

Vood: On the main news page of xbox-scene is a link to submit news articles. Be sure to submit your site and maybe also this thread. I dunno though, I've never submitted a news article but its worth a try.

I would change "optimize"by:

Move layer 1 files:

- Normal
-Inverted

That makes sense and would lessen some confusion or at least clear it up.

I tryed once to submit info about the web and the thread but I got no answer. Maybe thei ear you if you talk about your gui.

Once I finish the 'Move X\Demos' and 'Move MS XBEs' I'll finalize MooGUI with 1.1 and write up a full description with install instructions for you to post at the layout site. Then I'll send that info to the 'Submit News' and maybe that will get their attention.

So in the mean time try all variations of all options to try and find any last bugs.

For the 1.1 non-beta release I'll package everything into one rar for easy install.

That'd be nice to have also to clean up your disc with demo crap for
when you backup the backup DVD to harddrive you wont have that stuff.

Any other simple automatic optimizations youd like to see?
X\Demos and MS XBE's (live and dashupdate stuff) are
the only consistent folders\files I can think of.

Re: deleting files, I'm sure it's safe to delete the Xbox Live dashupdate.xbe, update.xbe, downloader.xbe things, but I've got a feeling there's at least one game that doesn't like the demos being deleted, although I can't remember what off the top of my head. It might be worth checking the big thread 'Games taking up too much space?'.

True... Thats why I have thrown in 3 message boxes to confirm before it will do it.

1st message box -> Are you sure you want to do this?
2nd -> Did you even check if it will work without these files?
3rd -> You're lying your pants off! But to be certain click yes one more time.

Hello clonexb, nice to see you back. The problems I had with clonexb was something about 'game size too big to fit onto a DVD-5' and 'Downloading via FTP', it would konk out saying unable to read/download file. I was so excited in xdvdfs thats when I decided to do MooGUI while you were away, command prompt stuff drives me crazy.

Well. I know this is a little off topic, but I got my Ritek G04's a while back. I tried a backup of Full Spectrum Warrior. The Ritek's are a ton better in the loading department. With Full Spec, the padded backup made with Xdvdfs_maker and a .lyt file, is as fast as the original, or maybe faster. Both clocked in at about 15 seconds, for the first training mission. I then tried a TDK for sake, and the load came in at 25 seconds. Media does make a difference.

However, I still am not happy. The original is pretty quiet. The Ritek is louder, and the TDK is loudest. I guess media is what causes the noise. Which media should I try next,or what should I try next. I know the Xbox drive was not meant to read burned discs, and this is probably why I get this noise. How about your guy's noise? Those pots tempt me, and a modified DVD-Rom tempts me. I want quiet.

Anyway the XDVDFS_maker worked well.Any suggestions for the Media is welcome. I almost want to tweak the pots, but I know that I'm not supposed to do that if my media does load. I don't know what else to do. I guess I am a little bit anal.

What do you think of having one of these just in case. That price is pretty cheap, usually they go for $50 up.New New MIB Thomson

Also when creating the backup iso, does it pad the games with dummy files?
