i was just playing around with this and it is still a problem in 0.48.2. The problem only occurs though when using the remote without a controller plugged in. With a controller plugged in, the remote works perfectly. Without a controller, it does the auto-launching of the first child menu item thing. Playing with the remote sensitivity setting indeed changes the remote sensitivity but seems to have nothing to do with this auto-launch issue.

The other remote control thread.. maybe these should all be merged together into one..

the problem has been reported already in the bug reports for an earlier version
