QUOTE (coxjon @ Oct 22 2004, 07:08 AM)
Ok, i read and re-read the entire thread in front of my xbox and cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the 'trainers' menu item in the dash...

Tried TSR and IGR setting combinations... no luck. checked evox.ini which says:

Section "Root"
{
#   Item "Launch DVD",ID_Launch_DVD
#   Item "Trainers",ID_trainer

Remove the # in front of the 'Item "Trainers",ID_trainer' tag and reboot.  You should then see the Trainers option in your menu.  Then read the rest of this thread.

Good Luck.

Hi, I'm an extreme noob when it comes to modding and all that. I had to take my xbox to a place to get a chip stuck in. I'll be getting a CD from my friend which has the evo-x dashboard in it, which'll install itself into my xbox (I'm not bothered to do the wiring thing just to save my save games and all that other crap, I just want to get the dashboard and I'll willingly start from scratch with my games) but I wanted to ask, how do I install trainers via use of CD's? Will I be able to access this C:/ thing, or will I need to do it using a PC? I want to just copy all the trainers that I get from the internet, including skins and whatnot, using a CD. Is that possible? If so, what are the steps to doing that? (and please do remember, I'm a noob, I went through a couple of previous posts on chips and bios and stuff and understood nothing)

I have an aladdin mod chip (after going through a couple of posts I realized there's more than one kind, but I don't know what kind I have, but I'm sure the dashboard should be able to install itself. My friend has an xecutor chip). I'll be installing the dashboard soon, but I want to know how to add trainers using CD's, and if its possible to update my dashboard using CD's (screw the save games, it's not like I won't replay the whole thing just to get there again).

Thanx in advance for any help.

stickied posts are supposed to be HeLPfuL

mods:  you should weed out useless posts, and combine useful posts high up in the thread that way "noobs" or anyone else needn't spend hours reading through "me too" and "what about" and "edit oh I fixed it" posts.

this post itself is such an example but need not be merely deleted if the other thread housecleaning isn't done.

I think that the most overriding key to success to using trainers within evolution x is to modify the .ini file within your evolution x data files, to tsr type = 1 and enable igr, and save that .ini file. Then burn a new evolution x disk (I use a cd-rw for rewriteability) with these .ini changes. Boot the evolution x disk and those changes should be obvious in system utils and settings. Then enable the trainer and launch dvd. I think that a lot of the problems people are having with this subject is that they think they have made those changes but those changes revert to saved default upon reboot or launch. If you make these changes by going into evox settings and changing them with the controller on the xbox those changes will not be permanent enough for the trainers. Those changes will not be saved in other words. Those changes will not stick. Obviously this post is for people who are booting evox from cd instead of the hard drive but there might still be useful information here for those other users. Earlier today I couldn't get the trainers to work until my friend figured it out - make those changes above and you may very well be able to use trainers like I am now! Later!

Settings for Evox V3935

To use trainers youl need to change some settings in your "evox.ini" file

Default settings

TSR_Type   = 0 "0 = Disabled 1 = Enabled 2 = Debug"
IGR = No "No = In game reset disabled Yes = In game reset enabled"

So lets see If we want to use trainers we first need to enable TSR_Type so set this too 1 and if you plan on makeing your own trainers youl need to set this too 2 and also set this to Yes

[Telnet]

Enable = No "No = Telnet disabled Yes = Telnet enabled"

IGR is not needed to use trainers this is to simply reset the xbox without haveing to get up and do it manualy.

Thats it if your still haveing problems and have your TSR_Type set too 1 or 2 then the problem is not with your evox.ini file its something else unless you modified your evox.ini file and mybe messed something up but if its the default settings then you should be fine.

hope this helps out those with the newest version of evox 3935
