Im taking a stab at making some skins and since Im on a mac I have no skinning program.  Im wondering if someone can point me in a direction in where I can find what the various code in the ini file within the skin's folder represents and how changes in the code affect various parameters.  More importantly I would like to find a list of the different codes which represent different text colors.  thanks.

Ill try and help a bit.

Here is a skin.ini I wil use to try and explain. I will use Brackets () after the line to try and explain it.

LogoType=   0 (this is the spinning Evox logo. 0 is big, 3 is bottom left corner and 4 is bottom right corner, not sure about 1and2)

Launch   =   "\skin\Christina Millian\2.jpg" (these are where the ini. file will look for the images so make sure that the path is correct. Just name the foler Christina Millian then have all the files in it then copy it to

either E:\Skins or C:\Skins. C and E depends on where your evox dash boots from)

BarColor1      =     0x100903(This is the main color of the selection bar)
BarColor2      =     0xF3DB91 (this color is for the border around the selection bar)
BarAlpha       =     0.5 (this efects how the color looks. 1=Full color .5=Half seethru and .0=it won't even show up.)
MenuColor1     =     0xF3DB91(I think the is for the words above the selction bar)
MenuColor2     =     0xD40C02(and this is for the words below the selction bar)

I don't know any colors though, when I want to know what a color is I just load up a skin.ini that has the color I want then copy that.

000000=Black
FFFFFF=White

I know black and white Though


Now to explain the status part:

I'll start with a simple line.

Text   =       50,37,0.5,0x8080a0,0,"DVD: <CD>"

the 50 is the horizontal movement, and the 37 is the vertical movment.
the 0.5 is for controlling the Fullness of the color (1=Full color .5=Half seethru and .0=it won't even show up)
the 0x I don't know what it does so I just leave it alone.
After the 0x you have the color, which has sic characters.
after the color you have something that I think is for changing the horizontal movment faster.
DVD: is the text that will show up on the skin and after it will show the status of the DVD Drive (Example:        
         Game,Unknown, or whatever)

This is what it would look like to have more then one.

More advanced:

this is a bunch of status lines linked together.
The CRLF will put the next status line under neith the one before it (I am not too firmiliar with the CRLF so I  
could be wrong, but whenever I see skin.ini files with CRLF the status lines are always stacked ontop  
of another)
So you can see how there is time then CRLF then the C drive space, then the E drive space (remember that the C: and E: in the lies are text that will show up on the skin)

As far as getting the lines where you want them to go, all I can say is experiment with the numbers (Remeber the first one is horizontal and the second is vertical).


I will try to post all the comand lines I know:
<CD> will show the status of the DVD Drive
<TIME> will display the time
<SpaceC> will show the amount of space on drive C
<SpaceE>Space on E drive
<SpaceF>Space on F
<SpaceG>YOU GET THE IDEA
<BIOSVer>Will show you what bios you have
<IP>Shows you what your xbox's IP address is
<Temp1>Shows the temprature of the Mother Board
<Temp2>Shows you the temprature of the CPU
<Temp3>Shows you the temprature of the HardDrive


Just use other skin.ini as guide lines.

well most people just use Skin programs.

But I like to know how the skin.ini works because some times I want to edit the way a skin works on my xbox but it is too much of a hasle to hook it up to FTP, so I use a text editer that came with unleashedX.

If they aren't the colors I call them it because I am a little color blind (Blue and Purple look the same to me and some greens, browns, and yellows)

000000=Black
FFFFFF=White
FFFFF00=Yellow
8080FF=Light Blue
0000FF=Dark Blue
808000=Green
000080=Navy Blue
808080=Dark Gray
C0C0C0=Light Gray
FF0000=Red
FF80C0=Pink
FF8080=Other Pink
FF8000=Orange
004000=Brown
FFFF80=light yellowish
