just got an xbox from a friend which is running evox +392 as the dash ,i dont know about the mod ,how can i tell what mod it has
its getting the ip on the screen and when i try to connect it via the ftp server it says unknown user xbox

on the main screen just above the system management it has got this line
xbox gentoo linux self add on
when i go into system management /lauch apps from hd/
it has got
xbox file explorer

Auto added item
Avalaunch
bios check
Enigmah Video mode switch disc
xbox ftp client
xbox watch
Xcommander R2G

i am using the username xbox
and same password
what am i doing wrong

Boot with a boot/rescue disc and use that to FTP.

or xboxhdm do the trick
or do i have to burn another boot disc/rescue disc
what are the default pass and user name for evox dash

xboxhdm isn't a boot/rescue disc, and it won't run in your Xbox.

HeXEn will work fine.

how do i backup the eeprom of my box to keep it safe

The Evox FTP password is in evox.ini.

Evox will back up your eeprom for you. Replace your evox.ini with the one from HeXEn at D:\Dash\EvolutionX\evox.ini

The password will then be xbox, in lower case.

shouldnt i be doing it with the bios checker and doing a back up with it
whre is my back up stored which is done by evox
im going to install xbmc in it as well
i will change the settings as you have mentioned thanks


how do i boot inot evox dash
when i turn the xbox on it goes in to microsoft dash board
is there any sequence of pressing the eject and the power button to go into evox dash

still no ftp
here is what i did
deleted the file evox.ini from c:/
and added the new evox.ini file from HeXEn at D:\Dash\EvolutionX\evox.ini
and then rebooted the system
all the skin were replace with this blank evox dash
tried to ftp but no luck same error unknown user xbox
what am i doing wrong

im confused here as well its both
when i turn theh xbox on it boots into evox and i insert a game cd in it when i eject the game cd and power it off and boot again it goes into microsoft dash
dont know whats happening here
well ive installed the xbmc and in it i can ftp
