Bail Me Out Plz...

Since you booted Slayer's it seems you have a hard modded Xbox. Usually they are set to boot from the C drive.

Physically the Xbox has the following drives:

C - Stock
D-DVD
E - Stock
F - Modded
G - Depends on BIOS
H-O - Mem card slots
X - Cache drive only
Y - Cache drive only
Z - Cache drive only

Q - A virtual drive created by XBMC

You cannot copy to the Q, X, Y or Z drives. All files needing to be updated are on the C, E, F or G drives.

I would get a copy of Evox from the Slayer's disk and put it on the C drive. It will probably need to be renamed Evoxdash.xbe. You will need the skins folder as well as the Evox.ini file. See if that will boot.

If you can get that to work, put your new XBMC files in the E:\Apps\XBMC folder.

Using the shortcut keys found in the XBMC folders on your PC, FTP shortcut.....xbe to the Xbox as Evoxdash.xbe and the shortcut.....cfg file to the Xbox as Evoxdash.cfg. Both these files go into the root of the C drive. That should boot up XBMC. Any changes to XBMC will be made in E:\Apps\XBMC.

Then your dashboard files may be in the E:\Dashboard folder. You would work with those instead of on the C drive.

If not and it is booting from the C drive, follow what I posted above. The important thing is getting a dash running first. Evox is the easiest in my opinion due to the two files needed to get it running.

List the folders/files on the E drive. Don't worry about getting XBMC on there and running yet. Let's get Evox going first to stabilize your Xbox. Then changing to XBMC will come after that.

On the Slayer's CD find the Evox.xbe and Evox.ini files. FTP them to the Xbox into the C drive. Rename Evox.xbe to Evoxdash.xbe overwriting the one there. Reboot the Xbox and see if it will get to the Evox menu.

You are booting from the root of the C drive.

Are you sure this is a soft modded Xbox?

No I bought it stock and then took it to a guy who does this sort of thing on the side.  I never bought a chip or anything and he told me he only does soft mods because they are easier and more realiable (plus he won't deal in chips anymore).  I would be on the phone calling him right now but he would just have me bring it in and his shop is like an hour away.  I brought him my Xbox and a 750 GB hdd and he did the installs and put the emulators on it.  I just wish I had read up on what he did more before attempting to mess with anything not Windows/dos based.  Ok I will do the file add to the C:\drive and report back with the results.  Also a side note - I can;t remember my drive lay out that well (c: and e:) prior to me messing my xbox up so if you think this isn't a softmod because of the fiole setup just be aware I may have installed deleted the wrong stuff.

Most soft mods won't boot Slayer's if you totally screwed it up. That is what leads us into thinking it is a chipped or even TSOP flashed Xbox.

Put the files on the C drive. If that doesn't work, make a folder on the E drive named Dashboard. FTP the two evox files and the skins folder into it. Rename evox.xbe to default.xbe and report back.

Is the SlaYers 2.7 dashboard that comes up the one we need to come up because every time I boot up now whether the boot disc is in or not, the SlaYer 2.7 menu will show up (not the same one that shows up with the disc inserted).  In the c:\skin folder the skins are called slayer_evox_green for example so I'm wondering if this is called SlaYer Evox that is booting up.  From the dashboard I can get options like boot from DVD media, games (my games are not showing up cuz I think it's looking in the wrong location for them), emulators - those all show up, trainers/cheats, applications - I can get avalache to load from this menu and XBMC is in here but currently unselectable cuz i'm sure it's not loaded right on my drive still.

That has to be it I guess.  I went to the file explorer and in the C:\ drive I selected evoxdash.xbe and it takes me back to the SlaYer 2.7 dash.  When I select xboxdash.xbe it flickers on the xbox logo but takes me to the SlaYer boot disc menu.  So I'm guessing the SlaYer 2.7 dash that keeps coming up is SlaYer Evox.

No it's more purpleish blue with the logo of the guy who modded my xbox in the top right and instead of Microsoft it now says SlaYers 2.7 at the bottom.
