Messed Up Xbmc As Dashboard Install

Hi all,
I've had a hard modded xbox running EvoX for years now, and never had any trouble. Last night I installed the latest binary of XBMC to use as a uPnP server for my Xbox360.
All working, no problems, so then I followed the tutorial to make XBMC my default dashboard (ftp'd the files, created the cfg with path to xbmc etc).
Rebooted and now all I get is the Executer Splashscreen, and the hard drive whirring as if it's trying to find something that isn't there.
Downloaded and burnt Frosty's Rescue Disk to attempt to gain access to the drive again to reverse steps, but the Rescue disk won't boot (Error 14)
Now, I have my old hard drive, with an older version of EvoX installed, so I stuck that into the Xbox and it booted fine, so i'm not in a bad position really as at least everything still works on that drive!
Is there something I'm missing here as to why the Rescue disk isn't working?
Am I better off using an Auto-Installer to reinstall evox on the bigger drive? is it even possible to auto-install to a drive that's been used before rather than a clean blank drive?

Dvd media used to burn? Does Frosty's boot off the old hdd? Try dvd-r (minus) followed by cdrw.

Evox is basically a xbe and an autoinstaller disc is basically a boot disc with the list of XBEs and a menu scripted  to run under evox or unleashX to copy the files so the status of the target drive shouldn't matter as long as there's space available and the menu system is intelligent enough to handle it. You can always use a file manager to do the file copying manually once the disc has booted successfully.

cool, thanks ldotsfan,
I was trying a few different types of DVD Media, most of the disks wouldn't even mount (just spun for a bit then went to the same Xecutor Splashscreen), so when I got past the splashscreen to the Error 14 I assumed the disk was the right type but it just wasn't working, could it still be the media? I've bought some CD-RW so i'll give them a shot tonight.
If I can get the boot disk working, i'm laughing, I can just copy the old xbe back in that case.
Might be making a few coasters/frisbees later!
Thanks for your help,
