Ms Dash Wont Boot
« on: August 03, 2007, 10:20:00 PM »

i used xbhdm to install evox but there were no settings in this version of evox to boot to the ms dash so i set it like an app, then i just renamed the ms dash xbe to default.xbe  and put it in the c partition. then whenever i chose to boot the ms dash it shows some part of it for a split second then i get an error 21.

my c partition looks like this:
fonts
xboxdashdata
xodash [then numbers and such]
default.xbe-ms dash [ms dash not part of name] (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
xbox bok.xtf
xbox.xtf
xboxdash.xbe

then it fonts i also decided to put in xbox book and xbox.xtf just in case plus there is this other folder in there "nk" from xbxhdm with different apps and such.

ANYWAY plz help!?!?! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)  thanks

Try running xboxdash.xbe. I would rename default.xbe back to msdash.xbe also.

Change it in the Evox.ini file like this...

[Misc]

AutoLaunchGames   = No
AutoLaunchDVD   = No
DVDPlayer   = "E:\Apps\players\dvdx\default.xbe"
AutoLaunchAudio   = Yes
#AudioPlayer   = "c:\xboxdash.xbe"
MSDashBoard   = "c:\xboxdash.xbe"

Post the result.

You may need to replace the xboxdash.xbe file. You can get one from your original files, if you backed them up, or from an autoinstaller like Slayer's.

FTP if you can, it is faster and a lot safer.

Put the Xboxdash.xbe on the C drive.

The only thing I don't see on the C drive is the "Audio" folder. Try FTPing that over to see if it matters.

something got messed up and i had to use xbhdm to fix it and on the first tries on starting up my xbox it would go to the ms dash and go to this screen that said "updating file finished. starting updating file" those aren't the exact words but something like that and it just kept doing that. but now that i have evox back on when i try to start it it does the same thing as always. do i need to do something in the root file?

I am having the same problem and getting the error 21 message trying to load up the MS dash.  .

I am trying to get back to MS Dash to change the video aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9.

My audio directory is there.  I also have 1.6 version xbox and installed evolutionx in about dec 05.
