Can't Get A Evoxcd To Boot, But Is Detected Properly
« on: February 21, 2007, 09:23:00 PM »

I'm trying to upgrade a Xbox with a new HD, something I've done many times before.  Well today I have made about 6 coaster thus far trying to make the EVOXCD DVD disc that has the backup folder and the default.xbe, evox.ini, and a fake.bin to to make the disc bigger.

What is so werid, is the original EVOX dash board recongizes the disc and even displays the name "EVOXCD!".  I can FTP to the xbox, and even see the files, yet if I try to boot with the disc already in the drive, it hangs at the splash screen forever.  It does this on all 4 of my Xboxs. These disc work fine for backing up my games, and they use to work fine for setting up EVOXCD, but not tonight.  I have tried a fake bin file from 300, 600, and now currently 1GB.  I have tried on a different burner, using a two different burning apps.

What would cause a disc to be recongized fine in the dashboard, but not boot up with disc in?  These are the same files I always use for making a disc for upgrading a HD.  The only thing I change is the backup folder with the new backup info from the new Xbox.

Thanks
Mike

im not sure if this will help to much but if your using X2.5035 bios i believe if everything fails to boot you can name the file "rescue.xbe" instead of default.xbe to boot as it says this in the readme that comes with it...

"- added: if nothing could be booted (no dvd and no dash) then an XBE called "rescue.xbe" is run from DVD drive, so, if nothing else boots, THIS XBE WILL BOOT !! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)"

this was added in bios version X2.5032 (or newer)
