Hd + Surround Sound Connection
« on: June 16, 2006, 10:32:00 PM »

What is the difference between the homebrewed method for sending HD signals from the xbox and the Advanced HD kit that I am looking at [Link]?  (other than cost of course)  Will it still display 1080i, 720p and 480p?

And if I do get the hd av pack, will it even work correctly with the x3 bios and xbmc dashboard?  Will I have to do the hex hack on games to play them in HD?

And most of all, I read that surround sound can only be achieved from the official MS dashboard, is this true? (no playing copied games in hd)

I will get HD + surround sound, I have the hardware for it, but I am just doing a little research before I buy anything.

I have read a lot before even trying to post.

I am trying to confirm whether I can recieve surround sound, 1080i/720p/480p out of the advanced hd pack selling on the website I mentioned.  And can surround sound come from xbmc and the x3 bios instead of the default + MS dash.

The answers are all yes. You can get surround, all hd resolutions out of xbmc, assuming the media supports it.
