X2vga To 17" Flat Panel - Gettin Nothing
« on: August 20, 2005, 09:29:00 PM »

Just moved into a dorm and picked up an X2VGA box to use the samsung flat PC montor for everything.. however, I plugged it in and can't get it to show up at all. I'm messing with combinations of the 4 switches and using the screen shift button. Does anyone have a manual for the X2VGA?

On my X2VGA+, I have all the DIP switches set to 'off', and it works great with my 19" monitor.

Anyway, here's the X2VGA's user's manual.

i also just purchased an x2vga+ and tried to hook it up to my rosewill 19in lcd and nothing happens...i played with the dip switches and set them all to off and i can sometimes get it to blink on and off when only one of the switches is set to on...i tried the x2vga+ on an old crt and it works fine...

Try setting the DIP switches as following, which is the default setting:

1.) Off 2.) On 3.) Off 4.) On

Ya well the X2VGA(+) does have comatibility issues with a lot of LCD monitors... or at least so I've heard... like 10,000 times now.

did you guys enable 480p in the ms dashboard?

if you did, my only other tip would be to turn on the xbox, then plug in the Monitor, sometimes this helps.  ie dont turn on the monitor first.

Ya, I was going to mention that holding the triggers and clicking both sticks will allow you to blindly change the HD settings.

I didn't think that was the issues though.

As for the screen off an inch, you should be able to change that in the calibration of your monitor.

I thought this only worked if the xbox was already enabled with 480p.  maybe i was wrong, but i thought the only way to enable it was blindly and then restart and hold both triggers and press on the sticks.

its not too much of an issue for me since i have a tv and pc (uses the HD) right next to each other.

btw:  the x2vga has a feature (which i think is useless after you enable 480p) called easyview that lets you see 480i images in a really crappy way.

yeah worked like a charm on my 19" Dell 1905 LCD !!!

The only issue I'm having now is seeing shadow against text and pictures when using the Monitor for other computer stuff i.e. internet and general stuff...

When I switch to XBOX [ using the X2VGA+ ] the picture is very clean and crisp.. but not when using the monitor for other computer stuff...  :o

Any insights on how to fix this ?

This is how the the whole thing is set up:

VGA Cable from LCD screen to X2VGA+ [ VGA In - slot 1 ]
VGA Cable from X2VGA+ [ VGA Out - Slot 2 ] to computer

I tried changing the screen resolution, but didn't help... currently running at 1280 x 960

Any help would be great!!..

Thanks!!

Is the VGA cable that connects the X2VGA+ to your computer a lower quality one? That could be a reason for the the shadowing.

actually, it's the other way around... the VGA cable from the Monitor to the X2VGA+ is the one that came with the monitor.. the VGA cable from the X2VGA+ to the computer is the expensive [ SVGA with gold plated pins ] one...

I suppose I need to upgrade the Mointor --> X2VGA+ cable now ?
