Vd-z3 Vga Trouble
« on: September 07, 2005, 09:53:00 PM »

Hope you guys can help me out on this one. Anyway I just got the VD-Z3 VGA from vdigi.com. Hooked it up to my monitor and got it going- all games work, apps, emulators, and xbox games on the pc monitor. I am running the UIX dashboard btw and have set the video to 480p in the video settings. The problem for me is that everytime I shut off the xbox and come back to turn it on, it seems that the 480p setting is not saved. The monitor will display the dashboard as if it is running 480i-the screen is scrambled. So what I always have to do is blindly go to the video settings again and select 480p AND then load an xbox game from the HD and then exit out of the game into the UIX dashboard. Only from that will I be able to see my dashboard. Once I turn off the xbox, I have to repeat this procedure again. Is this normal and is UIX not saving my settings? Any help or suggestion is appreciated. I have also hex edited UIX to only run in 480p but still that does not help.

Can anybody help me? Is it the bios I'm running? It's a UXE softmod on an xbox 1.6.

This doesn't seem to be related to the VD-Z3, so you'd probably have better luck posting in the UIX forums: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showforum=119

Or it could be related to your softmod, try another dash to test this theory...

Technically Soup.. this topic belongs here too.

Anyway.. try booting into your MSDash and in the settings hold both triggers and click both thumbsticks in to set the resolution. From the few times Ive messed with the widescreen settings.. it doesnt save unless you do it from the MS Dash.

Thanks guys. The triggers and the thumbstick still didn't work. I'll keep playing around with it and search around some more. Much appreciated for the help.

I think you need the newest MSDash to do it, which you can get from any newer game. If you have a softmod.. make sure you can repair the damage of the update after its done.

Yeah I thought about doing that too (putting newest dash via an xbox live game) but I was afraid that would screw up the softmod. I'll try it and I'll let you know if it works or not.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I see the light now- that 480p glory that is. I'm not sure what really fixed it. I put the live enabled game (so it updated the dashboard) and when the update was finished I used the triggers and the 2 thumbsticks combo. While I was at it I hex-edited the MS dashboard with Foehammer's post about auto-select progessive scan. Before this, I hex-edited but it didn't work. I guess my dashboard was too old. Anway, thanks again for the suggestions-very much appreciated. Now, time to play.

Scratch that-didn't mean to mislead you. The Live enabled game will ruin the softmod. So I decide to do this on my tsopped xbox 1.3 running the tHc dashboard. As for the 1.6 running the softmod, I'll have to work on it.

Well.. if it was a modchip it would be easy to fix after an update with just a FTP Disk. As for the softmod.. Im not sure, it depends on the installer. I dont know if the MSDash you have on their is modifed or anything.

For the softmod, the xbox is a 1.6 running the UIX dashboard. After the live update, I got the error-service screen. To FTP in, I used the slayers installer to fix the files.

With me.. I have a modchip. So all I will (need to do it later since Im buying one too) just backup my C drive onto my computer, install the update, then using a EvoX disk will just FTP what I need back. But since I have a modchip I have infinite ways of fixing it, such as my dash being on E or booting from media.

Just curious CC what dashboard are you using with your modchip install?

XBox Media Center, though I have EvoX and UnleashX also installed. EvoX obviously for Trainers and UnleashX as a backup dash on E just incase I mess something up. I also have my bios not boot DVDs unless its structured right and everything to be able to get into the system of my XBox is locked.  And "Char" works, thanks.

Finally I'm able to get progressive scan on that 1.6. As I mentioned, it was running the UXE exploit with a UIX dashboard. What I did was erase the UXE exploit (which was on C) and put back my original MS dashboard. I then changed the video settings to 480p while I was in there and did the trigger+thumbstick trick. So now the MS dashboard is running 480p. Next I decide to use Krayzie's Ndure Installer. Installed it and changed the dashboard to UIX. Everything works fine now. Thank you everyone for your help and suggestions.
