Bootdisk Does Not Work
« on: November 11, 2006, 08:59:00 AM »

Your drive may be dead and not wanting to read anything. Can you boot originals? If not, you need a new drive. If you have access to another Xbox, you could try the drive out of it. If not, replacing the drive with a new one will probably solve all your problems.

Once you boot the Xbox, you should be able to get FTP access through the chip right?

If so, you can possibly format the drive from the PC through FTP and copy everything over. It may be worth a shot if you don't have access to another DVD drive.

I have no idea why the dvd's won't read..I assume it's because the thompson firmware is just lame.

renamed the main file to default.xbe

created the iso with craxion

burned with nero6 - no multisession, no joliet, 2x, finalize, disc-at-once

I tried all kinds of media now with no results (except pressed originals work fine!)

none of these worked..

- DVD-R  2 different brands 4x speed (wrote at 2x..lowest)

- CD-RW

- CD+RW

I give up !   uhh.gif

i finally solved my problem...maybe this will help someone.

i had been trying to burn my iso's with nero.

then i ran across a post that suggested imgburn.

i downloaded imgburn and the first dvd-r worked perfect !

end of the struggle.

i even went and got a samsung drive off ebay to get away from the thomson.

but i bet the thomson would work fine now.

woo hoo!
