Sound But No Video But Only Black Screen
« on: April 28, 2005, 08:43:00 PM »

For starters, here's my config:

XBOX v1.6
Xeceuter3 chip
Latest avalaunch dash build
Latest flashbios build

---

My problem:

I don't know why it happened but after I got tired of playing, I rebooted and the dash didn't load, instea I came to an old menu that it's been so long since I last were in so I'm actually not even sure what it was. Probably the "default" bios that loads with Xecuter3 when you don't have any dash installed.

Anyway, I've been encountering annoying problems with my external switch whenever I change the video mode from avalaunch so I found a menu where I could change the settings for video mode and did so. Then I gladly plugged my box out and went to bed.

Next day I install the box in the other room but get no picture. I hear the boot-up sound and the chip has a blue light. Fine, so I check the cable. Boot again. Still the same problem! Then I figured, sure, it has to have something to do with the video mode.

The thing is:

Enigmah video converter doesn't work. I can't start the xbox with it inside, since I have to strt it up with the opencd-button otherwise i get a flashing red-green-red light. Tried switching banks but nope.

I can get into glashbios so it can't be a hardware problem, since then I wouldn't get any picture at all, right? I tried to re-flash my bios so now my banks are a mess, but wtf... this is so annoying.

Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated. I can't connect to the xbox through LAN, so it seems as if the ip is gone as well. I know i didn't change any network settings   <

EEPROM problem....probably has to do with switching video modes in Avalaunch....if you don't have HD pack....don't set the HD settings. <

Actually, I managed to solve it around 5.30AM that same night. The problem was indeed what I expected it to be - the video mode settings hade been changed.

My problem was that I had burned enigmah's video mode converter to a CD-R insstead of a DVD-R. So I did the right thing from the start but due to that I went through tons of other possible errors it might've been before turning back to square one and trying it all again...

So what's the lesson from all this?

NEVER BE CHEAP - MAKE USE OF YOUR DVD-R:s!  :P <
