Dashboard Not Loading As Normal ?
« on: November 03, 2006, 07:15:00 AM »

You can use an autoinstaller to format the hdd- xbpartitioner- or add the format routines to an evox.ini file and make a bootable disc to format the drive.  Put this in the evox.ini file at the end- or where you see the other [action]  headings:

[Action_15]

Info "Format HDD"
Warning "This will format all drives"
Warning "Make sure you have a backup of what you need."
Progress "Formatting drive"
ConfigSector "\backup\disk.bin"
format c:
format e:
format x:
format y:
format z:
format f:

And if you have G then put "format g:" at the end.

Add this to the menu:  Item "Format Hard Disk",@215

you proabbly just need another EvoX.ini file if all you are getting is basic menu options.   If you do nto have a a backup of your M$ dashboard or other things- formatting the HDD will erase them all and you need to start over from nothing. I saw your other post- your Evox.ini file is missing or corrupt.

Thanks a lot,

Just got my head round using MIRC to get EVO X again.

Keeps disconnecting, hate this program, or point-to-point or whatever it is, but when i finally get the entire file, go through the process of creating a new boot disc with a new Evo X,

and do what u said bout format routines incl,

After i get that done i'll get right back with what i'm doin wrong next!! Sound sweet.....

Seriously though appreciate the help duder

Still waiting on mIRC to get all the Evo X files to me but doin so much research about the whole process.

Never actually even realised there was a way to link the xbox with a regular PC and jus FTP any files back and forth.

When , or if i get this xbox up & running again, this will have made my life a lot easier in th end.

Anyway, what i wanted to ask was u said to include within the menu [MENU] code of the evox.ini  the line about Format @215 ....

Just where within the code shall i put it. I have a good idea, look at this example and tell me if this would work,

[Menu]

Section "Root"
{
    Item "JUST HERE ???
    Item "Launch DVD",ID_Launch_DVD
    Item "MS Dashboard",ID_MS_Dash
    Item "Reboot",ID_Quick_Reboot
    Item "Power Off",ID_Power_Off
#    Item "Flash Evox BIOS","c:\bios\d6.bin",ID_Flash_Bios_File

    Section "System Utils"
    {
        Item "Settings",ID_Settings
        Item "Flash BIOS",ID_Flash_Bios
        Item "Backup",ID_Backup
        Item "Skins",ID_Skins
    }

Been at the computer ever since the xbox went nuts.

Also , i'm just about to burn the single ISO file, when the Evo X finally finishes, which will include everything from the EvoX Folder,

Yet i curious, after it gets going, can i simply download the dvd2xbox, emulators, XBMC programs, stick em all on 1 cd , make it look like a single ISO, and hope they each install as they should ???

Still learning here people, but i don't mind insults regarding stupidity !!

Please bro,

Just did as you said.

Ftp'd the xbox the new .ini file with that new code in it. Hit, MS Dashboard, and now there seems to be no way to communicate with the xbox. I've lost that basic Evo X screen i had and i am now immediately stuck with a sign that says over and over contact customer support in about a million different languages.

Like FlashXp can't communicate with the xbox at all anymore ???

Completely freaked, please help

Okay, I figured it out.

Make sure your Xbox is NOT online.  Put in Halo 2.  Select XBOX LIVE.  It will ask you to run the troubleshooter. Do so. Let it do its thing. Voila.

Worked for me, hopefully it'll work for you.
