New Hdtv Game Loading Problems
« on: April 16, 2005, 12:43:00 AM »

I had a perfectly working modded xbox but I just bought a new CRT Widescreen 480p/1080i HDTV and M$ HDTV cable and am having a few problems.  While all my original game discs will load and play fine with the mod chip disabled about half of my games will not work with the disc in and the mod on (Madden 2005, Enter the Matrix, GTA’s, etc).  Also some of my hard drive backups will not load either (Burnout 3, Fight Night2, MLB 2K5,etc) pause at loading screen.  I am able to play MX vs ATV in 1080I from HD backup. Of my 60 games only 37 will work with the mod chip enabled.  I am running Evox dash and it is coming up in 480p.  XBMC will come up in 1080i but will not play DVD’s until switched back to 480p (I don’t know if this is related).
My settings are as followed:
XBOX Dash: 480p-yes, 720p-no, 1080i-yes, Widescreen-yes.
X3 Live: 480p-enabled, 720p-disabled, 1080I-enabled, WS-enabled, LBox-disabled.
Everything is set to NTSC-NA
I know it is most likely something simple but any sort of help would be much appreciated.  This forum has guided me through everything that I have done to my XBOX thus far but I seem to have hit a snag.  Thanks.

Regards,
Todd

Could this be a hex patch problem? <

I have tried erasing games off the harddrive and resaving them using dvd2xbox, but they still didn't work.  I guess since nobody seems to know what is going on either, I will just use my old xbox cables and play the games that freeze in 480i. <

I have been messing around and found out some more.  Using the component cables I can get everything to work by disabling widescreen, 480p and 1080i.  If I try and load a game from the hard drive with any of those enabled I run into problems of freezing on the loading screen or returning back into Evox main menu or just audio and no video.  I was thinking that it could be my bios but that would not explain why some games work and others do not.  I am getting frustrated.  mad.gif  I have not run across anyone who has had a similar problem to this using search.  This makes no sense. uhh.gif <

I figured it out!  It seems that with NTSC or Auto enabled in Evox video settings that the games will not load.  I had to change the setting to default in order for everything to work properly.  Now the only game that I cannot play is Red Ninja (as it needs NTSC enabled to run).  I hope this may help someone in the future. <

Thanks for posting this Todd, I've had exactly the same problem and switching videomode to default did indeed solve it. <
