I've never had a need to use a CD-RW, and very rarely even a DVD-R(W).

Just FTP over anything you need. Use flashbios or FTP over bioses...Am I missing something?

I was able to FTP, and place the .bin file in the f drive. But when I went to flash bank 1, it said I need to turn off the write protection. I have the hard drive lock disabled. Please advise.

Why do you want to reflash your bios?

I would use the x3 bios with the x3 chip...Try reinstalling evox via FTP in the bios. Make sure you have the bios booting to the right place. Then you can just disable autostart x3 live, and it should start up into evox.
